Foreign Volunteer Service
- Project Orbis - Orbis International Alma Alta, Kazakhstan: Orbis International is a non-profit humanitarian organization that offers advanced training to eye doctors in other countries via a DC10 airplane that has been converted into a state-of-the-art hospital and teaching facility. Dr. Harris Silverman, along with several other leading eye surgeons, volunteered their time to teach advanced surgical procedures to Kazakhstan doctors in order to improve eyecare and decrease blindness in the country.
- International Institute for Advanced Laser Surgery Dominican Republic: Dr. Silverman volunteered his time by performing PRK, LASIK and other advanced Keratorefractive procedures for the under-privileged people of the Dominican Republic.

Board of Directors Member and Past President
Dr. Harris Silverman is a founding member and active supporter of the Southeastern Guide Dogs, Inc. The Southeastern Guide Dogs School is one of Manatee County’s most admired non-profit organizations known for providing highly trained dogs to the visually impaired, making it possible for them to deal with day-to-day life with confidence, safety, and dignity.
