Dr. Guruswami Giri is an American Board of Ophthalmology certified ophthalmologist and a fellowship- trained specialist in medical and surgical diseases of the retina and vitreous.
He earned his medical degree from Stanley Medical College, University of Madras, India. He began his ophthalmology training at the Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai, India which is the largest eye care system in the world. He spent four years in England gaining valuable training and experience within the National Health Services before moving to the United States.
Dr. Giri completed his ophthalmology residency at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, Pennsylvania and his fellowship in medical and surgical retina under the mentorship of Dr. Lionel Chisholm at West Virginia University in Morgantown.
After several years practicing with Kaiser in Sacramento, California Dr. Giri has relocated to Florida’s Gulf Coast. He enjoys working with a dedicated team of optometrists and ophthalmologists at the Eye Associates in Sarasota and Venice.

Outside of medicine, he enjoys traveling and has explored six continents and about 30 countries. He also practices basic yoga, having trained in Rishikesh, India under traditional yoga teachers, as a way to maintain balance and well-being in his daily life.
