Henry Bausback, OD

I believe that great eyecare not only helps my patients see well, but look good too.

Henry J. Bausback received his doctorate in optometry from the Indiana University School of Optometry. Dr. Bausback is a primary care optometrist, which means that he is usually the first doctor to see a patient with an eye or vision problem. He specializes in eye care issues such as diabetic eye exams, glaucoma, cataract detection, ocular foreign particle removal, and fitting children with contact lenses.

Dr. Bausback has more than 25 years of experience in optometry and has practiced with a multi-physician specialty group as well as working with other doctors in a large clinic in Northern Indiana.

He believes strongly in continuing education and takes classes every year to keep abreast of the latest developments in the profession. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, an organization dedicated to lifetime learning. A member since 1996, he enjoys attending annual meetings which bring together the brightest minds in the profession. Additionally, he is a part of the American Optometric Association, the Florida Optometric Association, and the Manasota Optometric Society. He was recently recognized for being a 25 year member of this advocacy group. Dr. Bausback’s philosophy as a doctor centers on taking a holistic approach to patient care,  knowing that how people look and feel about themselves matters in helping patients see well and stay healthy.  Prior to receiving his own optometry degree, Dr. Bausback worked in an optical laboratory at his father’s private optometry office for several years, making glasses, cutting lenses, and assisting people with their eyewear. He feels it is important that people leave his office seeing, feeling and looking their best, be it with attractive glasses or contact lenses.

Dr. Bausback was born and raised in a small town near Michigan City, Indiana- A town roughly 30 miles East of Chicago. He has two children, and his wife is a native of Sarasota. His hobbies include power walking, swimming, gardening, and working on computers and electronics. He enjoys being involved in the community and enjoys being part of helping it thrive.

To any new patients, Dr. Bausback says, “I am very happy to help you address any problems you might have with your eyes. I would feel privileged to accept you as a patient. My staff and I will do our very best to make sure we address your needs. What makes my job worthwhile is making a difference in people’s lives. Helping people to see better and maintain their eye health is very satisfying to me.”
