Experience a Lifetime of Clear Vision with LASIK

What is LASIK?

LASIK or Laser In-Situ Keratomileusis is an outpatient procedure that uses a computer-controlled “cool” laser beam to precisely reshape the cornea. The beam gently changes the curvature of the cornea so that images can more sharply focus on the back of the eye; thereby giving you clearer vision. The actual procedure takes less than 60 seconds and most patients report immediate visual improvement.

Am I a Candidate for LASIK?

The Eye Associates offers patients a multitude of vision correction options. We are committed to providing a solution that is right for you. Our LASIK surgeons always take the time to discuss with you the very best options for your specific situation and long-term eye health. Consultations for any vision correction procedures are free and take just 60 minutes.

You are a LASIK candidate if:

  • You’re 18 years or older
  • You do not have an eye disease
  • Your prescription has not changed for at least a year
  • Have the approved corneal thickness and topography

Why Choose LASIK?

LASIK has literally changed the way millions of people view the world as well as themselves. After having LASIK, patients often comment that they cannot decide which has changed more – their vision or their self-image. They often feel more confident and can’t imagine why they didn’t do it sooner!

Implantable Collamer Lenses (ICL)

The EVO Visian ICL is an implantable collamer lens. It is a soft lens, like a contact lens, that is surgically placed into the eye. The lens works similarly to LASIK and PRK in that it permanently corrects your vision. Unlike these procedures, however, it doesn’t require cutting or reshaping of the corneal tissue and it is removable.

Good candidates for this procedure are people ages 21 to 45 who are nearsighted and have had stable vision for a year. The ICL is made to help correct patients with low myopia (‑3 diopters) to high myopia (‑20 diopters). It can be a preferred option for people with severe dry eyes or thin corneas.

FDA-approved, ICLs have been available for 10 years. To date, more than 500,000 ICLs have been implanted in patients worldwide, with excellent visual outcomes. The patient satisfaction rate to date is 99%.1

What is Custom LASIK?

Custom LASIK, using NASA space-inspired Wavefront™ technology, allows us to offer our patients the next generation of vision correction. In the past, many imperfections of the eye could never be measured. Now with Custom LASIK, we are able to capture and correct unique imperfections in an individual’s eye with 25 times more precision than could be done with standard measurements for glasses and contact lenses. In fact, some Custom LASIK patients experience better vision than they ever did with glasses or contact lenses.

Clinical study results 1 year after the VISX Custom LASIK show:

  • 100 percent of participants could see well enough to legally drive a car (20/40 or better)
  • 94 percent of participants achieved uncorrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better
  • 74 percent of participants were 20/16 or better
  • Participants reported being four times “more satisfied” with their night vision

By having the ability to analyze your eyes in such a specific way, we can adjust your treatment accordingly to decide if custom LASIK would benefit you more than traditional LASIK. Unlike some offices that have different costs for each type of LASIK surgery, The Eye Associates’ fee is the same for all advanced surface laser treatments, ensuring that you will get the best type of treatment for your eyes and the high-definition vision that you deserve.

The VISX Star 4 Laser has the following unique safety features:

ActiveTrak 3D Eye-Tracking

We often hear patients say that their biggest concern is the fear of moving their eye during the LASIK procedure. RELAX…we have you tracked. The Visx Star 4 laser has ActiveTrak 3 D Eye Tracking that detects and continuously compensates for eye movements, virtually eliminating any fear of human error.

VISX Iris Registration

Iris Registration takes a wavescan-generated picture of your unique iris and transfers it to the laser. The reason this is important is that when the patient lays down for their laser treatment, sometimes the eye will rotate. VISX Star 4 Laser uses the wavescan photo to compare with your iris and automatically compensate for any rotation, thereby ensuring an accurate outcome and eliminate the worry of errors.

VISX CustomVue WaveScan

WaveFront technology, developed from NASA space technology, allows us to capture and correct your eye’s unique imperfections with 25 times more precision than could previously be detected using standard measurements for glasses. It also has been shown to improve night vision in some patients.

VISX Exclusive SmartBeam

The SmartBeam technology adjusts the laser beam size according to treatment, minimizing the amount of corneal tissue that needs to be removed and reducing healing time.
